I had previously enjoyed the first and third of the Johnny Depp pirate movies though I was confused by some of the sequences.This one that I just watched with my movie theatre-working friend, I understood a bit more and, as a result, I enjoyed a little more especially with the addition of the beautiful Penelope Cruz as a former paramour who may or may not be on his side.There's also some good sequences with some mermaids that positively floored me with how they operate here.And the return of Geoffrey Rush as the one-legged crew member was also a treat here.Plenty of witty lines from Depp and some good swashbuckling sequences here and there were also good under new director Rob Marshall.So on that note, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides is highly recommended.

Poor Melissa McCarthy... No self esteem, no self-respect, and obviously, no shame. She is a person that no doubt has talent and intelligence, but nobody has told her so, which can be the only reason she would embarrass herself with this demeaning, tacky and unfunny garbage, over in over, repeating the previous bad movie she completed before.
This train wreck of a film wasted hours of my life, and took down so many actors with its insipidly juvenile plot, terrible script, and inane dialogue. I even found myself wishing my movie hero, Jason Statham, all the terrible deaths he so gloriously dished out in all his previous movies. He is the guy that Guy Richie made be great and funny, but the "Feig" that directed this crap made me want to never see him in another movie again...and I am the guy who even liked him in "In the name of the King". Please Jason, take that fast car you are known for and drive the heck away from this toxic drivel... and drag Jude law behind you for venturing into this bad choice. Jude Law is such a great actor... please send him to rehab if he is this desperate to finance his habits. And tell him not to share needles with Rose Byrne...such a beautiful lady to waste in this movie obviously written by some potty mouthed sixth graders (or Seth McFarlane).
That Melissa McCarthy is wasting her lives on fart joke, vomit jokes, "Pee-pee" picture jokes, and degrading herself by just being the fat-chick butt of all jokes at the expense of her dignity, is just a tragedy. I'd rather not see her degrade herself to the point that I will in the future seek out more intellectual movies, like something with Jim Carrie or Yahoo Serious.
The plot has been done better and before a thousand times. The dialogue...unbelievably childish and unoriginal. The movie comes together like an episode of The Cleveland show, which itself is just an unoriginal rehashing of "Family Guy", which itself is just a rehashing of the lesser episodes of "the Simpsons" with all of the humor, fun, joy, originality, spirit and souls removed.
OMG, it was the longest two hours of my life. Avoid like the plague, and don't encourage these movies to reproduce...this is how people like Jack Black can have a career! (The only good thing about this movie is that Jack Black wasn't in it, too).

I saw the premiere a couple of nights ago and while I hadn't heard much about the film, I was pleasantly surprised. An apocalyptic film isn't exactly a new or unique idea but this one still pulled it off. If you're a bit of an action-junkie like myself, you'll probably like this one with its non-stop action right through the film. While some of it may seem a little over the top, it is what it is. A "Rock" action film. I also didn't mind the rest of the cast in their roles and everyone seemed to pull their weight.
If you liked movies such as 2012 and Day After Tomorrow, just want to watch something and enjoy an action-packed movie then you should give this one a go.

I was in the theatre, with my girlfriend and my popcorn....so I actually stayed until the very end. Believe me, if I was watching this on video, I'd have stopped it early. It is UNBELIEVABLY BAD. As if they didn't even try to make a decent movie. The writing was atrocious. The CGI was terrible. Even if the movie is geared toward small children, you'd think they'd put something in it to keep an adult at least slightly interested. But nope, nothing.

I totally loved this funny movie which has entertaining action scenes and girls that are sweeter than sugar.I wish I could hug and kiss Reese and Sofia because they are irresistible actresses.
See this movie, have terrific fun and forget the problems of life.

I was left speechless when this finished. It can be hard to describe indeed.... but I'll go for it...

Sheer madness that isn't sullied by bad acting or laughable lines. A blockbuster that is gritty and doesn't have a sense of humour that could be equated to a fluffy kitten. No 'lets all hug' sentimental BS.

This is seriously a movie I thought I'd never see: a CGI-filled blockbuster that I flat out loved. The stunts are so much fun, the FX so great, it is the first movie I have seen where I have thoroughly enjoyed all this type of stuff - probably because the cinematography for once doesn't suffer cos of it. It is all incredibly shot.

The action is so brutal and appropriately high-octane. I thought to myself more than once, 'I think I am loving this more than Terminator 2' but other than that, there wasn't time to think. It kicked off fast and barely stopped, and the lulls were amplified by the insanity preceding them. Plus it is a dark film, which made it even better. I many people do an Aussie accent even close to well, was Hardy actually trying for that? Either way, he didn't talk much so it didn't really matter. This is more Theron's movie than Hardy's, he doesn't say much and does next to nothing for the first third or so. Theron's Furiosa is more of the hero is the story, if there were to be a hero in such a grisly and dark world.

I don't even like this type of movie but goddamn, the execution is everything. I'm gonna go see this again, soon. 4.5/5
